I've been seriously busy with end-of-8th grade festitivies (which, first of all, how did that happen?!? and secondly, it went on for 3 weeks), then end-of-school year for my younger one, and now, getting ready for a long-delayed and long-awaited Paris vacation (hopefully my next post will be from a Paris bar!)
In any case, I had two inspirations for this one: a drink I'd had, years ago, at the Paris Buddha Bar. And also, I'd been gifted a small bottle of Hermes Pamplemousse Rose perfume for Christmas. My own preference in perfume tends towards floral (I swear I bought up all the last available bottles of Patou's Joy in the US when they pulled it!) but not fruity. Having said that, I pulled the perfume out not so long ago, and it seemed really lovely - fresh and bright and summery just an undernote of the touch of bitter I associate with grapefruit. And it also seemed like a perfect build for a drink.
I built the drink from tequila, layered in the floral notes with Tempus Fugit Liqueur de Violettes and Ortolan Rosolio Amaro. I used red grapefruit juice - between that and the liqueurs it was tinted a light pink, squee! - and served it over crushed ice with a little sparking water because it was hot! It ended up a Lovely!
2 oz tequila
1/4 oz Tempus Fugit Liqueur de Violettes
1/4 oz Ortolan Rosolio

Sparkling water/club soda
Scrappy's lavendar bitters
