📖 Psalm 42: 11 📖

Feeling downcast or disquieted?

This scripture couldn't be more apropos in how so many of us may be feeling, given these tumultuous times that we live in. Maybe we all have times when we feel similarly as the psalmist did: downcast or disquieted.

What I like especially about this verse is the "advice to self" part. It starts out with a couple of self-examining questions: "Why am I in despair?," "Why is this turmoil within me?" but gets even more specific, reminding himself (and us) that God is the cure of the countenance--meaning that if we are upset or have any kind of negative emotion at all, God is the solution. He can help. How? By "waiting for God…"

What a great reminder, because sometimes we feel stuck in a mood that we can't see a way out of, and when that happens, we feel helpless and frustrated, while God has and IS the answer. He is always there to help us know what we need to do to feel okay again, IF we seek him out and do not waver in faith.

Today, let's turn to God for hope, and the resolution of whatever is disquieting our souls.
