Give Tinubu Another Term And Bakassi Deep Seaport, Lagos-Calabar Highway Will Be Delivered — VP Shettima Vice President Kashim Shettima has assured Cross River residents that the proposed Bakassi Deep Seaport and Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway will be completed, urging them to re-elect President Bola Tinubu and Governor Bassey Otu in 2027. Shettima gave the assurance on Monday while representing Tinubu at the APC presidential campaign rally held at U.J. Esuene Stadium in Calabar. He thanked residents for supporting the administration over the past three years, describing their relationship with the government as “an alliance of prosperity, an alliance of opportunity.” The Vice President urged voters to renew the mandates of Tinubu, Otu and other APC candidates contesting for legislative seats, saying the party was seeking another term based on its performance. He added that elected officials must remain accountable to the people. Speaking on the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Shettima said the project would connect coastal communities, ease the movement of people and goods, boost tourism and attract investments. He added that it would create thousands of direct and indirect jobs. On the Bakassi Deep Seaport, he disclosed that the Federal Government had approved the project, expressing confidence that it would become an international maritime gateway upon completion. According to him, the seaport would attract shipping companies and create employment, positioning Cross River to benefit from Nigeria’s maritime economy. Shettima also highlighted the government’s student financing initiative, saying it would reduce the financial burden on parents, promote human capital development and expand access to higher education. He said the intervention would ensure that financial difficulties did not prevent children from pursuing their education.
A Gujarat session court has sentenced three Muslim convicts to life imprisonment in a 2024 cow slaughter case, citing Hindu scriptures including the Manusmriti, Rig Veda and Harivamsa Purana in its judgment. The Additional Sessions Court in Kalol, Gandhinagar district, convicted Wasim Qureshi, Mohammad Rafiq Qureshi and Ashfaq Behlime after police recovered 277 kg of meat from a house in Jamla village in August 2024. Laboratory tests subsequently confirmed that the meat was beef. Two other accused, Ghulam Moin Qureshi and Vitthal Senma, were acquitted due to insufficient evidence. The court also referred to a shloka from the Mahabharata’s Anushasan Parv, describing the cow as the mother of the world and beneficial to human life and society. #Gujarat #CowSlaughterCase #KalolCourt #Manusmriti #RigVeda #HarivamsaPurana #GujaratNews #CourtVerdict #TheBharatPost
