Seyi Makinde Executive Governor of Oyo State Governor’s Office, Secretariat Ibadan, Oyo State *Subject: HUMBLE APPEAL FOR MERCY AND COMPENSATION OVER THE DEMOLITION OF MY ONLY HOUSE ON 18TH JULY 2024 AT IREWOLE APATA ESTATE, AJIA TOWN* Your Excellency Sir, With all due respect and humility, I write to you as a 57-year-old retiree and accident victim, now rendered homeless and “half dead” with grief. On 18th July 2024, my twin flat of 3 bedrooms each at Irewole Apata Estate, Ajia Town, behind Ile Ode, was demolished by officials of Oyo State Ministry of Land and Urban Development. The exercise was led by Planner Akinwale, Director in the Ministry, and the Honourable Commissioner for Land and Urban Development, Mr. Akin Williams, was also aware. *Sir, my house was not on Circular Road, Air Force Base, nor on any government acquisition land.* The demolition was carried out due to a land dispute between Sooko family and Akinyele family. I was not a party to that dispute, yet my only house - built with my entire gratuity and life savings after my accident forced me into retirement - was brought down. No compensation, nothing up till today, Your Excellency, this house was my only hope and security in old age. Since the demolition, I have been homeless and living in hardship. As an accident victim, my health cannot bear this stress. I have great respect for your administration’s focus on justice and “Omituntun 2.0”. I therefore humbly appeal to your mercy and fatherly heart: 1. *To investigate* the demolition of my property on 18/07/2024 and confirm it was not on government acquisition land. 2. *To order compensation* or alternative accommodation for me, as I am an innocent third party who lost everything to a dispute I did not cause. 3. *To direct* the Ministry of Land and Urban Development to cease further action until justice is done. Sir, please have mercy and save my soul. I am 57, retired, sick, and with nowhere to call home. I believe in your leadership and I pray you will intervene. Thank you, Your Excellency, for your time and kind consi

Shelter is a basic right in international law and the property rights should be protected from seizure. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DQ6u2YrDGag/?igsh=MWt0YzhxNWFmdWtzcQ==
