Karnataka-Style Tomato Upma 🍅

A delicious Bangalore-style breakfast made with tomato, vegetables, roasted sooji, peanuts and aromatic spices. It's flavourful, wholesome and perfect for busy mornings!

🍅 Ingredients:

- 1 cup rava / sooji
- 2 medium tomatoes
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 small carrot, chopped
- ¼ cup green peas
- 2 green chillies
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- 1 tsp urad dal
- 1 tsp chana dal
- 2 tbsp peanuts
- Few curry leaves
- ½ tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder
- Salt to taste
- 2–2½ cups water (adjust as needed)
- Oil as required

👩🏻‍🍳 Quick Method:

1. Dry roast the rava until aromatic and keep aside.
2. Heat oil, add mustard seeds, ginger, urad dal, chana dal and peanuts. Roast well.
3. Add curry leaves, green chillies, onion, carrot and peas. Sauté.
4. Blend tomatoes with Kashmiri red chilli powder into a smooth paste.
5. Add the tomato paste and cook well.
6. Add water and salt. Bring to a boil.
7. Gradually add roasted rava while stirring continuously.
8. Cover and cook until soft, fluffy and perfectly done!

A delicious breakfast ready while my robot takes care of the cleaning! ❤️
