With the Scottish Borders Hill Rally, luck is either on your side, or it isn’t. 🍀 Unfortunately for me and
@anette.racing, we ran out of luck on the 5th stage when the engine blew. ☹️
However, up until then, the car was on point, and we were having a great time. The stages were a real test of driving skill and judgment, with long fire roads mixed in with rough technical sections through old quarries. 🚗
There are no pace notes, and a very basic map on this event, so it’s about reading the track ahead, trying to preserve the car (if you’re aiming for a finish) and hoping for the best! 🤞
I knew there was a risk that the engine might not survive this event after a long season of competing, and sadly I was right.
It was great to have someone new beside me in the car 🇳🇴, and we were the only all-female team competing in the event so it’s a shame we didn’t get a finish.
Scotland 🏴 was a beautiful and cold adventure as usual. It was actually great to watch and hang out in the pits on Sunday without the pressure of competing.
I never regret doing this event, despite the distance and cost, and the fact that so far I have only finished it once (in 4 attempts! 😳)
Now time to relax over winter and start planning for next year. I’m hoping to do some European Bajas with
@exciterallyraid, 🐪 and am planning some engine modifications in my own car to try and get up the leaderboard in the UK.
