A break from fashion content to show off one of my favorite accomplishments last year. This is my most photo-real charcoal portrait yet and I’m so proud of her. “Everybody’s Grandma” - mixed media - charcoal, acrylic paint, gold leaf and sewing notions. I’m grateful to have a special relationship with both of my grandmas. I spent summers with my grandma while my mom was working, which is when she taught me to sew. Everyday when she picked me up from swim practice, I was so excited to get back to her house to work on our projects together. She not only taught me a valuable skill, but also patience and creativity. Through her I found my passion for design. Now she jokes that I am a better seamstress than her 🥹 but I know who set the standard for me. Though I don’t know the woman in these pictures, I felt she embodied the special type of bond many of us find with our grandmas. 💛👵🏼🌞
