i’ve got 36 hours to take 1,000 stories to parliament - comment ‘change’ for the survey

ever since my appointment to the @britishbeautycouncil i’ve been dreaming of a moment like this. starting ruka was more than just being about selling product or fundraising announcements. it has always been about becoming an advocate for the essential education, real innovation and now, real policy that protects us.

i’ve been invited to present evidence to parliament that will shape regulation for hair extensions going forward on Tues 3 Nov 2026.

@rukahair we’ve spent years investing in building the best fibre and striving for a higher standard than the market. without the support of real legislation, we invested in international lawyers and global labs for a safer, sustainable and ethical supply chain. but we know it’s not enough, and we can’t do it alone. protecting this community isn’t about instilling fear, but innovating for better choices and developing nuanced, scientific standards that institutionalise protection before it shows up on your scalp.

so i’m asking for three policies: we want extensions being imported into the country or being produced in the country to be vetted for (a) their origins (b) what they’re made of / composition (c) a definition of safety with regulatory limits of ingredients

but i can’t walk in there with just my story. i need yours. and i need them in the next 36 hours. so, if you’ve ever worn braiding hair, a wig or extensions, this is the one time your answer goes somewhere that can actually change something.

Tired of dating apps? Finland is taking matchmaking to another level, offering single people from across the world an all-expenses-paid trip to the country, complete with flights, hotel stays, meals and romantic dinner dates with locals.

The initiative, called Finnish Dinner Date, has been launched by Finland’s tourism board, Visit Finland. The selected participants will enjoy a four-day holiday between February 9 and 19, 2027, exploring Finnish culture, food and scenic destinations. Participants will travel to Helsinki and Tampere, where they will attend candlelit group dinner dates alongside local Finnish singles.

The experience includes specially curated meals by renowned Finnish chefs, sightseeing, cultural activities and opportunities to connect with other singles. However, the dinner dates will be group experiences rather than individual matchmaking sessions, and finding a romantic partner is not guaranteed.

Anyone aged 18 or above who is single and does not reside in Finland can apply, including Indians.

The idea was inspired by Finland’s viral Sinkkukori trend, where single shoppers carry pink supermarket baskets to signal that they are open to meeting someone.

Applications close on November 10, 2026, at 11:59 AM Finnish time, and the winners will be announced on December 1.

The campaign aims not only to help people make meaningful connections but also to introduce visitors to Finland’s lesser-known food culture. After all, even if they don’t find love, they might leave with a new favourite country.

A lot has happened in the last 7 days🤍✨
