Excited to share my new paper, “The neurobiology of menopause: Implications for brain aging and Alzheimer’s risk,” now published online in #neuron @cellpress 🌟🧠 The review brings together evidence from human studies, preclinical research, and neuroscience to explore a question that has been overlooked for far too long: How do ovarian hormones shape the brain throughout life, and what happens when those hormones change? The central idea is that the brain is an active estrogen-sensing organ. Estrogens do much more than regulate reproduction: they help regulate brain energy metabolism, synaptic plasticity, vascular function, and neuroimmune processes. This has important implications for what I like to call the three Ps: puberty, pregnancy / postpartum, and perimenopause. These are 3 major neuroendocrine transitions during which the brain adapts to profound changes in ovarian hormone signaling. This also means menopause is not an alien, isolated reproductive event, but part of a lifelong conversation between the brain and ovaries. I also discuss evidence linking menopause to Alzheimer’s risk, the complex role of menopause hormone therapy (MHT), and the possibility that midlife represents an important window for risk assessment and prevention. 👉🏼The full article is FREE to read and download only through December 19! 🙌 If this topic matters to you, download the article and share it! His photographs have been seen around the world. But how much do we know about the man behind the images? Following its inaugural edition dedicated to Joel Meyerowitz in 2025, Polka Gallery is dedicating the second edition of Immersion to Steve McCurry, one of the leading figures in contemporary photography. Conceived by Polka, the “Immersion” exhibition invites visitors to dive into a photographer’s world to explore his creative process and rediscover, in a new light, a body of work we think we know so well.  Last September, Adélie de Ipanema @adeliedeipanema , director of Polka Gallery, and filmmaker Florent Lacaze travelled to Pennsylvania to meet Steve McCurry. Over the course of three days, they followed him from his studio to his extensive archives and onto the streets of Philadelphia, gaining an intimate insight into the working methods of one of photography’s greatest masters. At Polka Gallery, four previously unseen films are presented alongside some thirty prints, including iconic images and works that have never been exhibited before. Together, the photographs and film sequences reveal how an image takes shape, the precision of McCurry’s compositions, and the distinctive qualities of his photographic style. Join us on Thursday, November 12, 2026, at the Polka Gallery for the opening reception, with Steve McCurry in attendance.  The exhibition will run through January 16, 2027. 🎥Directed by Florent Lacaze - DaisyDay @lacazeflorent 🎶Music Composed by Martin Rappeneau. @martinrappeneau 🤝With the support of Leica. @leicacamerafrance
