THE NUMBER ONE SPORTING EXPERIENCE TO HAVE BEFORE YOU DIE (IF YOU HAVE GIGANTIC BALLS) I was told not to go alone, because if I sounded and moved like a gringo I’d get stabbed. With the level 1 Spanish I know and months of planning, I managed to find a ticket and go alone anyway. Just a 37hr flight from India 🇮🇳. The Superclásico at La Bombonera, Boca vs River Plate. I’m still buzzing and I don’t know where to start. There aren’t any away fans because of how insane and violent this derby gets. I was in Zona Norte, the most hardcore section, behind the goal. I’d been warned there are no physical seats and it’s rowdy. But okay, whatever. I didn’t plan on missing the full experience. It was like a live human meat grinder. You don’t get to stand and watch, you get passed around and crushed between people. I started on the right, got pushed to the left, and somehow ended up all the way in the back. People were climbing over and moving under each other. I had no control over my arms and legs. Half the time your feet aren’t on the ground and you’re just wedged between thousands of bodies, going wherever they go. This ain’t for the faint-hearted fam. If you have anxiety or you’re claustrophobic, I don’t suggest this experience. You will probably die. The ultras around me figured out pretty quickly that I wasn’t from there. Instead of stabbing me, they were hugging me, singing with me and making me sing along. It was fucking crazy! La Bombonera is something else. Everyone’s singing, everyone’s jumping, and you can see the stands of the entire stadium bouncing weird like an earthquake has just hit. It’s fucking insane. The songs, the noise, the emotion, it’s the most visceral atmosphere I’ve been in. I wondered if anyone was watching the game, because the whole thing is such a fucking spectacle. The football atmosphere in England feels like a silent retreat compared to Argentina. My 3 solo weeks are coming to an end. One of the friendliest countries I’ve ever been to, and probably the most unreal experience I’ve ever had. Don’t trust everything you see on the internet. Come see it for yourself! Argentina, I fucking love you. DALE BOCA @bocajrs 💙 💛 🇦🇷
🚨🎙️| Hansi Flick’s press conference ahead of Aston Villa: 🎙️| On the team “I think the team is capable of meeting the demands we set as a coaching staff. We’re convinced about what we want to achieve and, so far, we’re satisfied with the process.” 🎙️| On Christensen “He trained with us yesterday but only a little bit. We will have to see if he’s available on the weekend. For now, he’s out for tomorrow.” 🎙️| On Balde “When you don’t play regularly, you can lose confidence. What I’m seeing now is that he’s getting better with every training session. We’ll see who plays, but Cancelo is also doing a great job.” “I have great respect for Balde, and I’m trying to help him regain his confidence. He’s working hard to get back to his best, and I’m happy for him.” 🎙️| On El Clásico and the Champions League “I think the result in El Clásico could have been different. We’ve won 11 games, but people are focusing more on the two defeats. Our objective is to finish in the Champions League top eight.” 🎙️| On the defensive injuries “We have four injured players: Xavi Espart, Eric, Christensen and Koundé.” Flick said Espart could return in early 2027, with the others likely back after the international break. Frenkie is coming back from injury and is willing to help, as is Brian Fariñas. 🎙️| On Gavi “We all know Gavi’s quality, and he’s always an option. I’ve spoken to him to make sure he understands how we feel about him. He’s very important to us.” “I don’t see him playing at right-back. He’s always an option to come on, but sometimes the course of a match prevents us from following our plans.” 🎙️| On Fariñas at right-back “Brian Fariñas has a good understanding with Lamine. He’s an option at right-back for tomorrow’s game.” 🎙️| On Gerard Martín “Yes, he’s an option both at CB and at LB. We’ll decide who plays.”
