Last night was an amazing experience for Lilliana. High school college signing day for the arts, Marching Band Majorette for the University of Kentucky!
I was sad because Lilliana was announced first so I did not know what to expect. As I am standing at the podium with her, her band coach gave a speech about Lilliana that was just WOW! Of course I did not have enough time to record it but here is how it went...
He congratulated Lilliana for making the twirling team at the University of Kentucky! He went on to say how 4 years ago the band Directors took a chance on Lilliana because they never in the history of the school band (35 years) had a twirler. In the four years, Lilliana competed in 3 OMEA state tournaments. There were over 20 bands and each band had 20+ guard members all of which Lilliana was competing against. She was the only solo twirler (no color guard) for the BWHs band. Lilliana place FIRST 2 of the 3 years!!
After his speech, the main MC asked Lilliana if she knew she was announced as a twirler on the University of Kentucky website. She went on to say... you know Lilliana, you are now a celebrity (lol)!
Without further ado, Lilliana is ready to get her college twirling career started! And we cannot thank Mr Renzi and the Bishop Watterson High School Marching Band for believing in Lilliana and giving her a chance. Without this support, Lilliana would have never gained the field experience to be able to audition and get selected to twirler for such as prestigious college program!
