The sandwich was named after a man who supposedly loved gambling so much that he refused to stop playing cards to eat. According to a famous story, John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich, requested meat between two slices of bread in 18th-century England so he could eat without interrupting his game. Although people had eaten bread with fillings for thousands of years, his title helped popularize the name.
Interestingly, sandwiches existed long before they had a name. Ancient civilizations ate combinations of bread, meat, and vegetables, while the modern sandwich eventually became one of the world’s most popular convenience foods. From burgers to submarine sandwiches, countless variations now exist. All because, according to legend, one aristocrat couldn’t be bothered to put down his playing cards.

it's not easy being MEAN 💚💚

The longer you stay where you don’t belong, the more it costs you to leave. ⛓️🔓
⠀
Most people know long before they act. The relationship that stopped feeling right. The job that drains them every single day. The friendship that only ever takes. They feel it, but they stay, because leaving is scary and familiar feels safer.
⠀
So they wait. For a better time, for a sign, for things to somehow fix themselves. And every month they wait, the exit gets harder. More years invested, more excuses, more fear of starting over.
⠀
Leaving early will hurt. There’s no way around that. But it’s a clean hurt, the kind you recover from. Staying too long is a slower pain, and it takes things you can never get back. Your time, your energy and the version of you that could have been thriving somewhere else.
⠀
The jump only looks terrifying from the edge. Once you land, you’ll realize staying was the real risk all along.
