I was going to come here to say “happy birthday, aunty Bimbo. Thank you for all you do.” But I quickly remembered that it’s very off brand to give my wishes that way. So I’m gonna go ahead to tell you all that she do usually do.
I really love this woman. Deeply so.
When she came to my wedding, she was surprised that my cousins and friends knew her. I was like you shouldn’t have been surprised o because I never shut up about people I love.
I think of her as kindred spirits with me because we are similar in many ways. We’re both very misunderstood people, but very loveable when you put your bias aside. We can both be brutally honest about our perspectives and not a lot of people like that, innit? 😂
She is a friend in need and indeed. She has always showed for every of my milestone celebrations and others in between. She was there for my high school graduation, then for my uni grad, then flew miles across the world to show up for my wedding. Apart from my immediate family, she was the only one from Canada who came to support me with her presence. And that means the world to me.
During wedding plans, she carried the plan on her head o. I had no idea where to start with my outfits or anything else tbh; she said “Omo mi, don’t worry. Everything will be sorted.” I was still in America (for school) when she said she already got my wedding shoes and other accessories. She sorted our aso oke, my shoes, fascinator, purse, and many others.
She’d just be closing from work, but she’d delay her sleep to be on the phone with me for hours. When we weren’t on the phone, we were sending each other ideas on IG. Lmao even when I falsely accused her that I didn’t feel supported enough by her, she didn’t complain. She understood where I was emotionally and said she’d do anything I “command” her to do 😂
Omo, I have stories for days
