I am now 8 months into my RN residency! 👏🏼💃🏼🎉

I have learned more than i ever expected in this short amount of time. I’ve overcome a ton of personal doubt and hurdles that i never expected. School gives you the basics, your practice gives you the skills. I have made mistakes that have made me question myself and whether or not i can truly do this. In the same day i have made myself incredibly proud. Some things come easy, and some are challenging beyond compare. Emergencies happen, some patients recover quickly, some don’t. There are even some that hate you for no reason at all, and others who praise your every move. Building relationships with new coworkers and hoping they trust my knowledge, but humbling myself in my newness as an RN instead of a CST is an adventure that i embrace wholly.

All in all, i feel grateful to be where i am and grateful for the people that surround and support me.

To the new grads…
You will feel like you know nothing. There will be a learning curve no matter your previous experience. You will be okay. Ask questions, shit, be annoying even, cuz at the end of the day this is how we learn and become better nurses.
