My friends, we did it.

Against all odds. In a district that was gerrymandered against us. Despite losing the fundraising battle. When no one thought it was possible.

You all—the people—made it possible.

And I’m so grateful.

There’s a long road ahead of us, filled with many more battles, and moments in which we might feel overmatched. Nevertheless, I am encouraged knowing that we have what it takes to do the unthinkable.

I’m looking forward to representing North Carolina’s 6th Congressional District in Washington D.C. After seeing last night’s results from elections all over our country, it’s clear that the American people were sending a message.

Together, we can make a government that produces better results. Together, we can build a more perfect union.

Love y’all.

The 2026 U.S. midterm elections marked a historic moment in American politics. 🇺🇸

Across the country, candidates from communities long underrepresented in political leadership achieved groundbreaking victories, marking significant milestones in American representation.

From Keisha Lance Bottoms becoming the first Black woman elected governor of a U.S. state to Deb Haaland becoming the first Native American woman to achieve the same distinction, the elections brought a series of historic firsts.

Other milestones included Abdul El-Sayed becoming the first Muslim elected to the U.S. Senate, Chris Pappas becoming its first openly gay male senator, and Gina Hinojosa becoming Texas’s first Latina governor. David Crowley also became Wisconsin’s first Black governor, while Aber Kawas marked a significant moment for Palestinian American representation in New York.

In another historic development, five Black governors are set to serve simultaneously for the first time in the nation’s history. Together, these results represent an important chapter in the evolving story of American political leadership, reflecting a broader range of backgrounds and experiences in some of the country’s highest elected offices.
