SISU — THE POWER WITHIN. Born in the cold. Driven by fire.❄️🔥🇫🇮 Introducing Finland’s National Costume for Miss Universe @missuniverse 2026, worn by Miss Universe Finland @veeragronlund and designed by @aviadarikherman A sculpted silver corset, a shimmering skirt and delicate embroidered leaves echo the ice, frost and beauty of the Finnish North. A sweeping flame cape reveals the fire within — the courage and determination that carry us forward. Ice represents where we come from.💎 Fire represents what carries us forward.🔥 At its heart is SISU: the quiet determination to keep going, even when you feel you have reached your limits. This costume is also a tribute to the women of Finland. The pioneers who opened doors, the generations who built our country and the women who continue to lift others as they rise. When Veera steps onto the Miss Universe stage, she will carry their spirit with her. 🇫🇮 This is SISU. This is the POWER WITHIN Photography: @lazekki Location: @billnasruukki Styling: @aleksandrakantola Production: Miss Suomi / Finnartist Oy National Director: @sunnevasjogren #nationalcostume #missuniverse #finland #misssuomi #missuniversefinland Fire in her eyes. SISU in her soul. 🔥❄️ Every detail tells a story. From frost-like embroidery to jewelled flames, Aviad Arik Herman’s design brings ice and fire together — with flame-shaped glasses as the finishing touch. Your holiday outfit? No longer under wraps.
This took ages to put together but it’s finally done! I wanted to try out a little concept comic hook for Threadbound to get a better feel on the art direction and vibes. This technically won’t be in the comic itself, but it covers the main murder mystery premise of the first chapter. This is the first mention of Patch, which is where the story takes place, and I’ve spent a long time fleshing it out. It’s a tight-knit small town stuck in a decaying 1950s aesthetic due to its declining economy. Despite that, the residents are very warm and welcoming. Everyone-knows-everyone kind of feel. I had a lot of fun coming up with the environments, and there’s a lot more in my drafts for specific locations that’ll appear in the comic - might get around to sharing those at some point.
