HU Staff: Ariela Anís @ari.anis Congratulations! Democrat Xavier Becerra has not only defeated Republican Steve Hilton to win California’s gubernatorial race, but he’s also made history, becoming the states’ first elected Latino Governor. Becerra is Mexican American. ___________________________________________________ On Tuesday evening (November 3), news outlets reported Becerra’s projected historic win. The feat sees Democrats maintaining control of the nation’s largest state with Becerra succeeding Gavin Newsom. Becerra defeated Hilton, who is a Republican and former Fox News host was endorsed by President Donald Trump. ___________________________________________________ While reacting to the huge historic win, Becerra told a crowd at his watch party, “What a great night to be a Californian. What a great night to be an American, to be the son of immigrants, from a Union household.” The audience erupted in chants of “¡Sí se puede!” On X, Becerra wrote, “We did it, California. Thank you. I’m honored to be your next Governor, and I’ll fight for every family in this state, every single day. Let’s get to work.” In another X post, he wrote, “Now the real work begins. Thank you and Gracias, California.” ___________________________________________________ Click the link in bio for full story 📸 CNN
Rapper Freddie Gibbs briefly jumped into the drama between 2 Chainz and Keith Lee before making it clear he wasn’t looking for any problems. The rapper hopped online and shouted out 2 Chainz, revealing he’d just been with the Atlanta rapper before declaring, “F**k Keith Lee.” However, Gibbs quickly walked back his comments, saying, “We was just joking,” while clarifying that he actually rocks with the popular food critic. His remarks come after 2 Chainz and Lee had a heated exchange on Kirk Franklin’s “Den of Kings” podcast. During their conversation, 2 Chainz questioned Lee about a negative restaurant review, although Lee hadn’t reviewed his establishment. The two also disagreed over whether celebrities deserve special treatment at restaurants. Following backlash, 2 Chainz apologized for his remarks and revealed that he and Lee had spoken privately, insisting everything was “all love” between them.
