“MY 12-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER GETS DEATH THREATS.” In this harrowing account, Kamisha Menns describes the terrifying fallout of her prosecution in Lithuania. She and her daughter have endured death threats and racist abuse, while receiving no meaningful protection or help from the police, prosecutor or judge. The situation has become so frightening that KL has had to withdraw her daughter from school, and the two have been confined to their home for their safety. All this unfolds against the backdrop of a prosecution arising from an alleged incident of “insolence” towards a white woman and making her cry. A mother and child facing racial abuse, death threats and fear for their safety. Where is their protection? Where is their justice? How can a child be left to live in fear while the very institutions meant to protect her appear unable—or unwilling—to intervene? I didn’t expect to draw parallels between Dia Mirza and Digger in the ripe 2026 but oh well ✍️: @mayanagarii Dia Mirza | Digger | Diwali | Tom Cruise |
