I’m a great fan of modern Halloween with all of the time and money spent on it. However I probably prefer the way it used to be. Please enjoy my favourite photo from my childhood. Yes, it’s quite something isn’t it? There are a number of important things to note 1. We would always go to my Grans house for guising, note the exceptional 70’s curtains 2. I believe my brother and sister are cows which might make me a milkmaid however my costume seems rather more dressy than that. But in the 70’s costumes didn’t need to be that specific. They may also be Deer? It’s not completely clear what animal the cheap plastic mask was meant to indicate. 3. My brother and sister are nightmare inducing. Truly horrific. 4. Please note the hollowed out turnips, not pumpkins. It showed more dedication and acceptance of pain to make one of them. 5. I adore the completely unposed, unbothered nature of this photo. My mum triumphed that Halloween. Because imagine the terror of seeing this trio at your front door. Sleep well, don’t have nightmares.
