Dooku actually had a point 😮😬 Count Dooku trying to warn Obi-Wan Kenobi that Darth Sidious had infiltrated the highest levels of the Republic is one of the most interesting moments in the Star Wars prequels, especially knowing how much of what he says is actually true. Dooku understood that the Republic was deeply corrupted, the Senate was compromised, and the Jedi had become so entangled in the political establishment that they couldn't recognize the threat sitting right in front of them. Even Qui-Gon had questioned the Order and its relationship with the Senate. The irony is that Dooku was offering Obi-Wan a chance to challenge a broken system, something that increasingly resonates with millennials and Gen Z who feel institutions have failed them and wonder whether the people supposedly protecting the system are actually protecting the system itself.

Democratic socialist Nithya Raman will defeat incumbent Karen Bass in the Los Angeles mayor's race, CNN projects. With Raman’s victory, the nation’s two largest cities — New York and Los Angeles — will be led by democratic socialists as of next year. Raman, a city councilmember, overtook Republican Spencer Pratt in June’s nonpartisan primary to set up what was arguably a tougher race for Bass, a Democratic former congresswoman. Raman has vowed to cut street homelessness in half before Los Angeles hosts the 2028 Olympics. Follow live updates at the link in @cnn's bio. 📸: Mario Tama/Getty Images
