When I lived with my grandmother, I wasn't allowed to use sanitary pads but clothes alone since she believed that it's bad luck to burn blood. I wasn't allowed to sit on the sofa or touch any furniture / cupboard. Had a separate plate for food and had to sleep on the floor. It was pure help especially since I had unbearable pain during those days for which I wasn't allowed to take meds since it was believed to affect future fertility.
Being someone who has gone through the worst side of seeing period as a taboo, I hope to bring a change to this narrative through Happy Periods and turn it into a happy experience for the menstruator instead of eliciting traumatic memories.
