3 years agoPBIS/dojo made me frustrated felt like some other kids would get lot of points just for not destroying property or screaming insults and stuff and then the standards i had to meet i wasnt sure what they were and it just felt like worst behavior got rewarded but when i had a meltdown they didn't always be understanding of it
3 years agoInterested in learning steps to take away from PBIS to help effectively and efficiently reteach expectations and promote self regulation efficiently with large classes.
3 years agoSigh. My district just started with the store this year. I think the kids went once. I teach Preschool and haven't sent anyone there...but it's "success" was just discussed at a recent meeting. I agree with you!
3 years agoLove to hear alternatives- 3rd year of PBIS at my school and only admin doesn’t see it not working.
3 years agoEven when others are using PBIS programs. Stop and be the first to make the change then lead by example as your students are more regulated and your class out ‘performs’ those who use PBIS❤️
3 years agoI am a first year teacher and my grade level decided long before I got there to use Class Dojo points as incentives and punishment. I can’t not do what they do in this instance. If I have to use this system, how can I do it the most effectively?
3 years agoI went to get one of my speech students right when the class "store" was opened, and I asked if he got anything. He said no, and that he hadn't earned any money yet. It freaking broke my heart. He has behaviors relating to a disability, and that I guess means that he has to miss out on the awesome class store time, for no conscious fault of his own. I'm so mad on his behalf.
3 years ago@meggthompsonbehavior i would love to learn more about the damage PBIS is causing. i really had no idea until i saw your posts. i saw you offered a master class, how can i sign up to learn about alternative management strategies?
