A little backstory — right before I decided to leave my career for a more non-traditional job path, I was sitting on the couch in tears talking to Cole. This is what I said,

“I just want to wake up each day…happy.”

That was all I wanted. To wake up and be excited about a new day. To wake up and love my life. To wake up and feel, happy.

That same day I walked into my principal’s office and told her it would be my last year.

Life hasn’t been perfect since, not even close, but there’s been a whole lot of happy in each day, and that’s all I ever wanted.

I share this to amplify the message that it’s not normal to wake up and dread your life. I used to tell myself that — that everyone hated their job. That’s just how it is. If you’re telling yourself that, please realize that’s not normal and you shouldn’t feel that way.

A job will never be perfect, but it shouldn’t convince you that you’re life isn’t beautiful. If it is, please have the courage to start making a plan and working towards that plan, every day, to change your situation.

You’re not stuck, you’re just scared.
Scared is normal. Do it anyway.

I’m a teacher and want this life so bad. Ugh.. teacher guilt is real. I’m leaving the profession in May with no backup plan

“You’re not stuck, you’re just scared”. Ouch. Why you gotta call me out like that. It’s time to leave bedside nursing.

I left teaching this year after 5 years and so many people around me have mentioned how much joy I have back and that I look like myself again! I don’t know what job comes next and I’m terrified, but hoping that I keep chasing that joy and spark that makes me me!
