Claribel Cone, "The Ancient Glass show was inspired by many hours spent at the Metropolitan Museum in New York. I don’t like to speak about inspirations as it hedges me and limits the waves that are coming into the shore. If I must, the main inspiration of the exhibit came from ancient glass mostly from Egypt and Rome, often from the 4th to 1st century. This ancient glass holds light and iridescence. The many vases and pitchers and bowls were functional and ceremonial.
