The connection between our bodies and the rest of nature is just beautiful. Did you know, located within your nervous system, you have tiny nerve cells (neurons) that look like trees? At the top of these cells, there are structures called Dendrites, which are the branches of the cells (the name ‘Dendrite’ means ‘tree’ or ‘tree like’ in Greek).
Dendrites share similar properties to plant cells, and they move towards their tips, just like tree branches do, plus, they even have leaf-like structures on them called spines (so cool).
So it’s no surprise then that we can increase the growth of Dendrites in our bodies, through the consumption of some plants, but also, through movement, dancing, art, music, poetry, and singing (among others). Oh, and, once the Dendrites start to grow, they need successful connections with partners to really thrive…♥️
This is a loose connection to why I love the work I do! Here is me, and some lovely people, growing Dendrites, while treading lightly on the ground at the beautiful day retreat at
@albion_nights in September.
We spent the whole day retreating in the meadow, and I guided us through movement (yoga and Qi Gong), meditation, sound baths (including the birds and the wind), poetry, readings and rituals around the fire. We also had a cold water plunge and sauna, massage, AND incredible food.
It was a lovely way to honour the summer months and say farewell Summer 🧡 Thank you Helen for creating this and asking me to be a part of it, for the delicious food and of course the location and the warmth of our family. Also, to
@meraki_healing_therapies @saunaboxhq for the sauna and plunge, and massage. It was great to connect and grow Dendrites together!
Huge love and thanks to
@stoneandsagecurated who took these pics, I am a difficult subject so…🧡
