Stroller-Friendly Urban Hike in RVA: Hollywood Cemetery

Looking for a serene & unique hike? Check out Hollywood Cemetery. Established in 1847, Hollywood Cemetery spans 135 acres with hills, valleys & over 2,000 trees! It is an active cemetery, a registered arboretum & an outdoor museum. Hollywood Cemetery is also the final resting place of two United States Presidents, James Monroe and John Tyler and many other notable figures. With views of the river, the city & the fall foliage, this is a peaceful walk you’ve got to try this fall 🍂

Things to Know
💥 It’s located at 412 South Cherry Street.
💥It’s open to the public daily from 8am-5pm (fall/winter) and 8am-6pm (daily light savings time).
💥The cemetery office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30am - 4:30pm.
💥Bathrooms are located in the office.
💥 I like to park by Presidents Circle, but you can park throughout the property.
💥You can take a self guided tour by car or foot. Maps of the cemetery are online or you can get one at the cemetery office for $1.
💥This walk can be a work out - there’s lots of inclines & stairs.
💥There are memorials on the ground, so be careful where you (and the kiddos) walk & explore.
💥If you follow the paved paths, the entire cemetery is stroller-friendly.
💥There are areas of full sun & shade. There are also benches throughout the cemetery.
💥Palmer Chapel & the path on Waterview Ave have some of the best views of the city skyline.
💥This is a great hike for bird spotting - over 100 different species can be seen within the cemetery.
💥 This walk is pet friendly!
💥Dine at Legend Brewing Co (~6m 🚗) or New York Deli (~10m 🚗) after your walk.
