An 18-year-old girl is fighting for her life after being shot inside an Annapolis residence Monday evening. A juvenile was detained at the scene as authorities work to determine what happened.

The shooting was reported shortly after 5 p.m. on November 2 at a residence in the 900 block of Royal Street.

Responding officers discovered the young woman with a gunshot injury to her head. Emergency responders from the Annapolis Fire Department provided immediate medical assistance before she was transported by helicopter to a nearby trauma center.

As of the latest update from police, the victim remained in critical but stable condition.

A juvenile boy was taken into custody at the residence. Police have not released his identity or provided details about his possible involvement in the shooting.
