I believe during our lives we go through different stages- a bit like when we move house, and when we change direction our friendship circles can change and thatโ€™s okay, so try not to worry about losing friends when you stop drinking, if they donโ€™t support you - they were just drinking buddies. ๐Ÿ™

My 'Arsebook' friends went from over 400 to under 100 in the first year I stopped drinking. Probably because most of those friends I'd met whilst drunk !

Best place to find them is at an AA meeting, people at AA meetings arenโ€™t looking to make money off sobriety

I had a "friend" who said having a 0% alcoholic beer was like being vegetarian and offering a meat eater quorn its "boring and pointless" they said this in front of a group of others while laughing at me, it really hurt as he is a really good mate! But in my head I know stopping was one if the best things I have ever done apart from having my kids! It's still hurts the way it was said but I'm getting to the point where I think me not drinking is clearly upsetting my "friends" more than me! x
