So thrilling to be in LA this past weekend with my fam for the opening of the CYBERPUNK exhibition at the @academymuseum!!! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰ So grateful to curators Doris Berger, Nicholas Barlow and Emily Rauber Rodriguez for including NIGHT RAIDERS in the show β€” completely surreal to be alongside films like Blade Runner & The Matrix. Also so happy to see Producer @chelseawinstanley there too!! ❀️❀️❀️ And congrats as well to NR Prod Designer @zazumyers and concept artist @gdelicn438 who designed the drone. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

In 1865, an 18-year-old man placed an ad in a newspaper, reportedly in Maine, under the headline β€œChance for a Spinster.” In it, he proudly listed everything he thought made him a good catch: a good set of teeth, support for President Andrew Johnson, the flag and the Fourth of July, and a farm with 18 cleared acres, a house, a barn, nine sheep, a bull and two heifers.⁠ ⁠ He also bragged that his buckwheat looked β€œfirst rate” and that his oats and potatoes were β€œbully,” 19th-century slang for excellent. He promised to provide bread, butter, hoop skirts and β€œwaterfalls,” a fashionable women’s hairpiece of the time, for his future wife for the rest of her life. β€œI want to get married,” he wrote. β€œBut I don’t know how to do it.”⁠ ⁠ The ad resurfaced in 2017 when Oxford researcher Max Roser shared it online, and it quickly went viral. Nobody knows if he ever found a wife.
