Allah (SWT) says "do not be sad" 9 times in the Qur'an. Look at who He said it to. A mother placing her newborn in a river. (28:7) Maryam, alone in labour beneath a palm tree. (19:24) The Prophet (PBUH) in the cave with Abu Bakr, enemies standing at the entrance. (9:40) The Prophet (PBUH) again, grieving over the people who turned away from him. (16:127) The believers after Uhud, wounded and mourning. (3:139) These are the strongest people in our history, and every one of them felt sad. Not once does the Qur'an blame them for it. Every time, the words come with something from Him. The mother is promised her son back. Water runs at Maryam's feet. Sakinah descends in the cave.
