Here are five actions that debt collectors are prohibited from taking:

1. Proposing meetings at unconventional times or locations.

2. Contacting you outside of 8 AM to 9 PM in your local time zone.

3. Reaching out to you if they know you have legal representation.

4. Calling your workplace if your employer prohibits such contact.

5. Continuing to communicate with you after you’ve requested they stop using a specific method of communication (requests can be written or verbal).
