new chapter update 🤩 (tldr: I am following my dreams starting now yay!)

this was a very productive month for meee! I recently took a step back from my longtime serving job to give myself the time to really pursue editing as a profession. at first this was a tough transition (one because I love my serving job, and two) because I have wanted to work in film for so long that I let myself feel scared to fail. but since graduating last May I knew it was time to push myself! sooooo here’s all the good news.

throughout October I completed a number of training courses to strengthen my skillset before I try and look for work, mainly learning Avid Media Composer and assistant editor workflow. (pic of me learning above). taking these courses was something I’ve been anticipating for a long time and am so glad I finally did, I feel a renewed sense of confidence and it feels good to fan the fire that is my love for editing.

I take the Avid Certified User exams early this month and after that it’s a lot of figuring it out! my next big goal is to find Post PA or short film editor work but feeding into that, I want to push myself to attend industry events, finish my website, and polish up my resume so I can put myself out there and build experience. but MOSTLY I want to practice cutting cause I want to keep improving my craft and putting what I’ve learned to work! I am working with some practice footage now, if anything nice comes out of that I’ll post it later :)
