Nepo Babies: the famous sons and daughters of famous mums and dads. It’s a topic that always gets people talking on social media and in the press. But how far can nepotism really take you?

@phoenixisphoenix and her mum @officialmelb talk about privilege and hard work in the industry.

Watch: ‘Untold: Born In The Limelight - Nepo Babies’ on YouTube/Channel4Documentaries or on Channel 4 streaming.

As long as you have parents to fall back on that has enormous amounts of wealth you are still a nepo baby

You open doors for her without even realizing it strictly by association whether you’re physically going to the person or company firsthand or not. I don’t think it’s a bad thing anyone would want to be in that position.

Being able to acknowledge your privilege as a nepo-baby is exactly the same as acknowledging white privilege; it does not mean you never had to 'graft' in your life, or that you haven't worked hard or faced adversity in getting where you are today. But it does mean that there were many hurdles you never faced or even knew existed simply because of to whom (nepo baby) or what colour (white privilege) you were born. So yeah, she has to work and maybe mum hasn't directly called up her network to get her kid a specific gig, BUT she's grown up with musical talent and knowledge of the industry around her (I'm assuming she's a DJ?), as someone else said there's venue owners and music execs that will hunt her down because THEY know who her mum is even if she hasn't bought it up herself. It's just so lame to not be able to acknowledge it in yourself and so lame when celebs get so defensive about it, same as when whites get defensive about the fact that white privilege exists. Just face facts so then we can all work towards more equitable systems!!!!

... you can also use that platform to elevate those around you.. never feel bad for the success your mom got. She kept you humble.... personally I love the idea of you thriving, "nepo" or not

The same, same delusion of all nepo babies; talking about it doesn't change the reality. Your parents money and connections give you a foot up, in fact several feet up.. stop being disingenuous and pretending it doesn't.
