Sunday was a very special day thanks to the amazing crew at @boc_awareness . They've been hosting a breast cancer Survivor luncheon for years now, and yesterday I was lucky enough to get to see my sister @a_slomko speak and share her journey with cancer.

We all know someone who has been affected, or have been affected firsthand, by cancer. However it isn't until we hear someone speak with rigorous & fearless honesty about what they have gone/are going through that we,who have not been diagnosed with it ourselves, are experiencing.

That's what my sister, Allie, did at BOCA's event. She shared not only her physical story of having cancer, but also her emotional journey. Allie spoke candidly not only about what her treatment was like, but also about the lasting effects of surviving cancer: uncertainty, fear, mental/physical lethargy, and guilt, to name a few.

However those of us who were there to watch her speak didn't see a broken person. We all saw a young, beautiful girl who wakes up to face those adversaries every single day. Allie gave a little more hope and a stronger resolve to fight to every person in that room, and it's truly a beautiful thing to be able to experience that with her. Love you, Allie.
