It teaches that the individual self (Atman) is not distinct from Brahman but is, in essence, one with it. Liberation (Moksha) is attained through self-knowledge (Jnana) by realizing this non-duality and transcending ignorance (Avidya). The philosophy is primarily based on the Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, and Brahma Sutras, with Adi Shankaracharya being its most influential proponent.
