5/10/23 throwback post for absolutely insane hudson valley spot. i’m missing this one rn

this spot broke me and my friend when we first went; it was at night and we just stumbled upon this giant quarry, which looked like a black hole or the end of the world when we didn’t know what it was. the trestle (?) was something I knew existed over the road but we had to wander the woods to find it. it was so worth it though; we watched cars go by underneath it after walking a really long way on it (which was scary.) found a lot of good lore papers as well. i don’t know whose office was just in the middle of the woods but i’m jealous. something about the trestle was just so mysterious; it was like i finally became part of the treetops. the forest had accepted and consumed it. i had no idea how long it would go on for or where it would lead, and i didn’t want to know. stairway to overgrown rusty heaven fr. having it start out underground and then go up was also awesome.

me when something is remotely walkable in a car-dependent area 🤯 and aesthetically pleasing

thank you industrial revolution keep building these and the running out of money so they get abandoned they’re fire
