Deb Haaland made history in 2024 when she became the first Native American woman elected governor of a U.S. state, winning New Mexico’s gubernatorial election and breaking a barrier in American politics. A member of the Laguna Pueblo tribe, Haaland has spent much of her career advocating for Indigenous communities, environmental protection and greater representation in government.

Before her historic campaign for governor, Haaland had already achieved several political milestones. In 2018, she became one of the first two Native American women elected to the U.S. Congress, alongside Sharice Davids. She later served as Secretary of the Interior under President Joe Biden, becoming the first Native American to hold a Cabinet secretary position.

Her journey from a single mother who once relied on food assistance to one of the most prominent Indigenous political figures in American history has inspired people across the country. Her achievements represent significant progress for Native American representation in leadership and government. 🇺🇸🪶

South Korean singer Aoora has taken the internet by storm after performing the popular Bhojpuri hit ‘Lollipop Lagelu’ at IIT Kanpur’s cultural festival, Antaragni 2026. Originally sung by Pawan Singh, the 2008 track had students cheering as Aoora sang and danced to its energetic beats.

Dressed in a vibrant red kurta and white pyjamas, the K-pop artist brought his own stage style to the iconic Indian party number. Videos of the performance have gone viral, with social media users praising the unexpected fusion of Korean pop culture and Bhojpuri music.

Aoora, who appeared on Bigg Boss 17, has built a connection with Indian audiences through his renditions of Bollywood and regional songs. His latest performance is another example of how music can cross language and cultural boundaries.
