Mannat may be undergoing renovation, but the birthday celebrations outside its gates carried on. Shah Rukh Khan greeted fans gathered outside his Mumbai residence on November 2, waving to the crowd and striking his signature arms-wide-open pose as cheers rang out. The actor turned 61 on Monday.

The Bandra landmark also became a giant canvas for the occasion. Large projections illuminated Mannat with visuals and dialogues from his upcoming film King, giving fans waiting outside another reason to celebrate. Among the displays was a handwritten message from the actor himself.

“Thank you all for your wishes and love. Sending mine right back to you all,” the message read, ending with a promise of love and a big hug.

Shah Rukh had skipped his customary midnight appearance, with his home undergoing extensive reconstruction and expansion. However, his later greeting gave the waiting crowd the birthday moment they had come for—another wave from the star outside the home that has become synonymous with him.

Next up for the Service95 Book Club…

“In 2000, Zadie Smith detonated the books world with White Teeth and has been part of our literary DNA ever since. She’s been compared to everyone from Dickens to Rushdie, which is staggering praise for a debut author barely out of university.

This glorious and hilarious intergenerational soap opera of multicultural London spans the 20th century, told through the eyes of the Iqbals and the Joneses, two families you will never forget.

It starts with middle-aged big-hearted loser Archie Jones attempting – and failing – to gas himself in his car, stung by a failed first marriage from which all he salvaged was the vacuum cleaner. He meets 19-year-old Clara, a recovering Jehovah’s Witness of Jamaican heritage, at an End of the World party in a North London squat, and life begins again.

Archie’s friend Samad Iqbal, who looks a bit like Omar Sharif from a certain angle, is still waiting for his wife to be born when the two men meet in the last days of the Second World War. When Samad and Alsana finally meet at their wedding three decades later, she is more than a match - physically and mentally - for her much older husband.

The next generation – twins Millat and Magid Iqbal and Irie Jones – ramp up the volume, pushing their parents to the limit as they challenge their ideas of home and identity.

It’s a big, loud, boisterous and fiercely clever book. Reading Zadie play with the multitudes of language on London’s streets, and explore identity, community and the competing pulls of nature and nurture, is an unforgettable experience. No wonder this book became the literary landmark for a generation.”

California City Approves Legal Recognition Of Throuples, Foursomes And Other Multi-Partner Relationships

West Hollywood, a city in Los Angeles County, California, has unanimously approved an ordinance allowing people in polyamorous relationships, including throuples and foursomes, to register as domestic partners.

The ordinance, introduced by Mayor John Heilman, was passed by the city council on Tuesday and allows three or more people in committed relationships to officially register their partnerships with the city.

Under the new law, registered partners will enjoy certain protections, including hospital visitation rights, recognition by healthcare facilities and city-operated jails, as well as additional housing protections.

The measure also prevents landlords from terminating or refusing to renew a tenancy simply because a registered partner remains in the rented property.

However, the ordinance does not grant multi-partner relationships the same legal rights and benefits enjoyed by married couples or traditional domestic partners.

To qualify, participants must mutually consent to the arrangement and must not be related by blood. Registration is also open to people who do not reside in West Hollywood.

Christina Fialho, an attorney and founder of the advocacy group Rewrite the BiLine, who first proposed the protections in 2025, described the development as a significant step forward.

Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, she said, “This law is just the beginning.”

She added, “I think it makes it possible for people to dream about a future they once thought was out of reach.”

Supporters say the ordinance is aimed at addressing discrimination against nontraditional families in areas such as housing, healthcare and education.

However, the move has also attracted criticism from opponents, including the conservative California Family Council, which previously described support for polyamorous relationships as “cultural s¥icide.”

I should have stayed home 😂
