Neale Richmond

A final General Election post from me this weekend before it’s back to work tomorrow as a TD for the people of Dublin Rathdown.

Politics is tough.

It is particularly tough on the families, friends and supporters of those who put their name on the ballot paper.

This week will see lots of really good people miss out on being elected and re-elected, many people will wake up tomorrow without their job and many families will be left to pick up the practical and emotional pieces.

Democracy is fragile and it depends on people taking part to function.

I am extremely grateful to the thousands of people who have voted for me as well as the dozens of friends who have played such a big part for many years. We’ve a super team in our Dáil office that work so hard everyday and my campaign was run by an amazing Director of Elections.

Crucially, I am blessed with an amazing wife and brilliant family who I’ve been pretty absent from for the past while.

Thank you all.
