Alexis Schaefer (Stypa)

A little background: I grew up in Southwest Arizona in an adventurous and loving family of 9. My dad took us everywhere on horseback, hiking, and road-tripping, and my grandparents ran an outdoor adventure guiding company, doing mainly rafting in the Grand Canyon. We were always on the move but in the down time I always had my paints with me. This was especially nice when the horse trailer got a flat tire or when we were fishing.

I currently live and work in Santa Barbara. I still bring my paints everywhere (like everywhere…) and am always trying to sketch the adventure. The outdoors bring me so much joy, and painting is a way I can capture the moment and bring it home, whether its underwater, on top of mountains, or inside great buildings. I’ve also been pretty obsessed with pretty rocks since I could see them so you’ll see some stone jewelry and the like. This page is the trail of where my creative outlets are going and where they’ve been. Hope you find some inspiration here.
