april 29 2022 we met at a concert you almost didnt go to for a band that i just started listening to a month prior. may 4 2022 you asked me to be your girlfriend and i said yes despite us both knowing we were being crazy. june 6 2022 i started compiling these vows in a note in my phone and have been editing them periodically ever since because i knew you were the one that early on. since day one we've been on the same page about more things than anyone ive ever met, we've been finishing each other's sentences since our first date, and now I can recite entire stories that I know you're about to tell just based on the way you take a breath before you speak. as cringey as it is, it's true what they say: when you know you know. thank you for being the reason i now believe in that notion, for being my home in a person from that point on, and for being the person i needed to fully believe in me when i couldn't believe in myself. i also want to thank you for the endless coffee and reading dates, for being my forever concert buddy, for always knowing which snacks I'm craving just by the way I look at you, for taking all the photos with me and of me, for introducing me to all the horror movies, for all our spooky adventures together, and for always matching my energy no matter how obnoxious. thank you for being my eyes when I don't pay attention crossing the street, for always making sure I'm fed, and for taking care of me in general, but especially when my arthritic body decides to act up. I appreciate every meal you cook, every back rub you give me, and every time you fill my water bottle even when I ask you to as soon as you lay down. im so excited to continue experiencing all the little things in between the big things. you've taught me to be more patient, to be shamelessly enthusiastic about the simplicities of life, and most importantly, you've taught me what love really is and how it should be. the kind of love in my favorite romance novels and cheesy movies. the kind that is unconditional, ever-growing, and can confidently remain strong while we overcome whatever life throws our way. You've become not only my rock but my soft landing too. as dayseek
