Black Friday TV sets
Bud Light and percocets
Well-meaning with deep regrets
Fascists wearing epaulets

It’s the gospel of prosperity
Buy seven and get one free
Qualified immunity
Sounds American to me

Trad wives and TikTok whores
Propane tanks and storage wars
Shelters with padlocked doors
Black marks on credit scores

It’s a culture of constant greed
It’s the fine print you never read
Heard you gave up your grandpa’s deed
Sounds American to me

We’re falling in love with falling apart
Cus we don’t love what it is that we are
All this love is gonna break your heart
And you’ll never be great again after falling apart

Redlining housing laws
Politicians with Hapsburg jaws
Walking in to grand applause
While all the glaciers thaw

C-span and mtv
Private prisons and handling fees
Land of the brave and free
Sounds American to me

No hope we’ll ever retire
Tap water that catches fire
low effort and high desire
Only thoughts and prayers required

It’s the biggest Walmart in history
with curbside delivery
From sea to shining sea
Sounds American to me

We’re falling in love with falling apart
Cus we don’t love what it is that we are
All this love is gonna break your heart
And you’ll never be great again after falling apart
