First Ballot (almost unanimous) vs 3.2% of vote and kicked off ballot. Both 107 ops+ (7% better than average hitter). But who played the more premium position (cf)? More dWAR(defensive WAR) in 550 less games?!? Better power numbers? Higher on base %? More stolen bases? Both led league in WAR once. 51.9 JAWS - Ichiro 55.9 JAWS - Kenny (better prime for those unfamiliar with JAWS). How much do we want to credit Ichiro for playing longer? Last 5 seasons = NEGATIVE WAR! Below average hitter for those years. Per 162 games? Ichiro: 2.9 oWAR 0.3 dWAR. Kenny: 4.5 oWAR 1.2 dWAR…🤔🤔🤔

Kenny getting kicked off the ballot is a joke. Even Peter Gammons has said Lofton was one of the most electrifying players of his era. The guy dominated in centerfield, led the league in WAR, and had a better prime (JAWS don’t lie!). Plus, his speed and defense were game-changing—you don’t see players like him anymore. Cleveland fans know the truth: Lofton was the heart and soul of those ’90s teams, and it’s criminal how overlooked he’s been. First ballot talent, no doubt!
