Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja is reportedly making a political shift from UDA to ODM as he positions himself for the 2027 gubernatorial race.

The reported move could reshape Nairobi’s political landscape, especially as parties begin strategising ahead of the next General Election.

Sakaja’s political future has been a subject of discussion, with questions emerging about the party ticket he will pursue as he seeks another term.

MEDAL MONDAY | NYC MARATHON 2026 🪶🗽

Some medals carry more weight than others. Not because of the distance, course, or finish time, but because of everything they represent. This one will stay with me for a long time.

Yesterday, I ran my 11th marathon through New York City, wearing my ribbon skirt, representing Native Women Run, and carrying so much more than my own reasons for showing up.

This race was mine. Every mile, every climb, every emotion, and every decision to keep moving forward.

But it was also for my athletes. The ones rebuilding, navigating hard seasons, learning to trust themselves, and discovering what they’re capable of. I hope they see their coach doing the same damn work she asks of them.

It was for Native women who deserve to see themselves represented on the biggest stages in running. For our ancestors, our communities, and the generations coming behind us.

And it reminded me that representation means more when it’s backed by meaningful action.

I’m deeply grateful to Verna and Native Women Run for this opportunity. Verna removes barriers, creates access, and genuinely supports her people. There’s no performative nonsense. Just intention, integrity, and actual work. Unfortunately, that kind of leadership isn’t something we can always take for granted.

Sharing this experience with the NWR team, surrounded by women carrying their own stories and reasons for running, made it even more extraordinary.

I crossed that finish line with a whole lot of feelings. Some about running, many about life and everything it’s asked of me lately.

There were moments when I realized just how much I’ve carried, overcome, and grown through. And I hope somewhere along those 26.2 miles, another Native woman saw herself reflected in me.

Because that’s part of why we keep showing up.

This medal belongs to me, but its meaning reaches far beyond me.

My heart is full.

Wado, Verna. Wado, Native Women Run, and everyone who helped carry me to that finish line. 🩵

Every slide here is GOLD btw
