We spoke with luxury Jewish wedding planner Michelle from @elegantebymichellej who shared her best advice on planning a wedding in Italy.

1️⃣Kosher catering is available in Italy, but it’s not as easily accessible as in the UK or US. Choosing your location wisely from the start is key! Major cities like Rome, Florence, and Milan will have more options.

2️⃣Even when kosher catering is available, opt for a fish and dairy meal so Italian cuisine can really shine. A meat main would mean no creamy pastas or cheeses, which would be a shame!

3️⃣When considering kosher catering, think about the whole guest experience and accessibility to kosher restaurants outside the wedding. Florence offers both great kosher spots and stunning wedding venues.

4️⃣Music is crucial, and the best Jewish wedding bands in Europe are in the UK and France. Bringing a band over means organising their entire technical setup in Italy. This can be tricky, so it’s best to have support from a planner.

5️⃣The Jewish community in Italy is quite traditional, so if you’re set on finding a progressive local Rabbi, keep that in mind.
