🇪🇺 CONCLAVE 2025 - Shaping a European 2040 Vision🇪🇺
From January 16-19, 2025, Brussels hosted the 2nd edition of Conclave 🌐, Europe’s premier gathering before the Davos World Economic Forum 🌍. Organized by EuropaNova, this event brought together leaders from across Europe to discuss Europe’s strategic future in light of rising geopolitical tensions with the U.S. and China.
🫴 The event kicked off on January 16 with an exclusive preparatory session with Mark Rutte, NATO Secretary General, focusing on European defense and the role of NATO.
🫴 The next day, January 17, an intercontinental conference was held with experts from the U.S., China, India, and Morocco, exploring the future of EU relations in 2040. The discussions were centered around the question: “What relations should we envision with Europe by 2040?”
🫴 The conversation continued on January 18 and 19, with deep dives into three key themes:
* Geopolitics, Defense, and Security 🛡️
* Science and Technology as drivers of competitiveness 💡
* Funding Europe’s Ambitions 💶
Notable participants included Antonio Costa, President of the European Council, and Alexander De Croo, Prime Minister of Belgium.
The outcome of these discussions will result in three briefing notes 📝 for European policy, addressing defense, technology, and financing Europe’s future. A comprehensive report 📊 will also be published soon, feeding into the European Commission and Parliament’s strategic work.
