This is my grandma Becky and I at age 30-31. She would have been 81 today. It dawned on me one night when I was around the age of 7 that one day I’d have to live in a world without her. I promised myself that I would cherish her words, her belongings, and her time. She was my absolute best friend in this entire world. I have never had a person love me so tremendously and probably never will again. She was so damn funny and beyond generous. I know she’d love all my quirky jobs, lame jokes and appreciate the sweet tooth she passed down. She would have loved the family and life I’ve made for myself. She’d be delighted that the McRib keeps making its way back on the menu and be completely obsessed with all the new crime shows on tv. I was so worried as a child that I’d grow up and forget all of these little things that made up such an incredible and meaningful person. I etched them into the back of my mind so on days like this I can sit down and remember her fondly and appreciate the life she lived. Nothing ever heals the loss of someone so significant but I carry pieces of her with me so my son can grow up knowing what shaped his grandma and mother into the women we are today. Happy birthday to one hell of a woman 💕
