It’s the last day of the first month of a new year, and I’m still telling people “Happy new year” when we speak for the first time in the year. Thats largely because I haven’t made the time to process that the entire 2024 is past and we’re in a new year, nor that the entire month of January is over. I’ve been privileged to be on the road so much this month that the month surprisingly seemed to go by fast.
But I had some time today, as I did on the last day of December when I scribbled a review of my year, and I thought it’d be a shame to have such a monumental and pivotal year go by without commemorating with a frivolous carousel.
So here are some photos of me at different times in the last year. They all have some special significance to me: a photo of me on my sister’s wedding day, a photo of me at my job.. both at Moniepoint and as a photographer, one of me speaking at an event, one of me having a meeting in a bush while on a journey etc. They serve as memory-timestamps and somewhat of a sign off to the year that’s past. I pushed this back a lot cos I didn’t want to process the year much, but I’ve done so now and I’m glad. Glad to finally enter the new year.
I know it’s late, but they say when you wake up is your morning, right? So happy new year, friends. I pray you find satisfaction with whatever you do this year, and I hope I’m privileged, at the end of the year, to hear all about how monumental this year was.
with love,
Mileke.
