There is far too much information about sleep on social media, it is overwhelming for you as parents trying to navigate your baby’s sleep.
My recommendation is to only follow a handful of accounts. Use this as your checklist:
✔️ Follow accounts that fit with your parenting style/philosophy. If you choose to work 1-1 you have to be comfortable with the sleep coach, there needs to be trust and honesty
✔️ Look for those that can back up their claims with evidence and data
✔️ Make sure your baby is at the heart of the plan and their unique sleep capabilities are central to everything
❌ Unfollow anyone talking about overtiredness
❌ Unfollow anyone giving generic routines or wake windows to follow
❌ Unfollow anyone who doesn’t have a fundamental understanding of sleep, don’t be afraid to ask for more information and research!
❌ Quickly unfollow anyone who claims sleep training is harmful and makes you feel guilty for wanting to better the lives of you and your baby. I am very passionate about this one.
Once you block out all of the nonsense and select a few reputable accounts to follow you will find it so much easier to pick up the right tips and information to help you navigate your baby’s sleep journey!
