Since then, researchers have successfully printed experimental human heart, kidney, and liver tissues in orbit. Microgravity allows delicate structures to form with less support, opening new possibilities for medical research.

Companies like Redwire are exploring how these experiments could lead to functional replacement organs, potentially reducing dependence on human donors. However, growing complete, transplantable organs remains a major scientific challenge that could take years to overcome.
